Wet Through Friday AM… Dry Weekend Ahead! Wednesday PM Forecast Update #alwx @wvua23

7 Day -SHELTON STATE Forecast - Offset Lows - PM.pngGood Wednesday afternoon! It has turned out to be another wet day across the area, especially north of I-20, where rain continues to increase in coverage. Expect periods of rain overnight, with temperatures dropping into the upper 40s.

We’ll start Thursday off with a cloudy sky and areas of light rain and drizzle. It appears a fair chunk of Thursday will be free of heavy rain, but keep the umbrella handy as light rain and showers could pop up over your area at any time. Another wave of heavier rain will arrive Thursday evening and Thursday night. This could cause some flooding issues, so we’ll need to carefully monitor trends. If you live in a flood prone area, use caution Thursday night and Friday morning. Rain amounts between what fell this morning and what falls through Friday morning will range from 2 to 4 inches.

By Friday afternoon, drier air will slowly filter in from the north. A surface high will move in this weekend, which will bring plenty of sunshine and nice conditions. Highs will reach the 60s over the weekend, with lows in the upper 30s.

A weak surface front moves through Monday night and early Tuesday morning. This feature could have some showers, but heavy rain is not expected.
