Periods of Active Weather this Week…Cooler Conditions by Thursday…Sunday PM Forecast Update #alwx @wvua23

Good Sunday Evening! It has been a beautiful day with temperatures only warming up to the mid 70s and a mix of sun and clouds. This evening clouds are increasing throughout the region. Winds are coming out of the southeast and could be breezy at times. Overnight temperatures will fall into the low 60s across central Alabama.

To start off the work week we have a chance of showers and a possible thunderstorm. Not everyone will see these, but those who do could expect them anytime from late morning to the early afternoon hours. By tomorrow evening we will see clear skies again and temperatures falling into the low 50s. Winds shift Monday night and become out of the north.

Tuesday will be cooler with temperatures only reaching the low 70s in the afternoon. You can expect lots of sunshine on Tuesday with less humid conditions. Clouds will build back into the region Tuesday evening as the next system approaches central Alabama.

There is still some uncertainty with this next system but we will likely see showers and thunderstorms Wednesday afternoon. Temperatures will warm to the mid 70s on Wednesday. Showers and thunderstorms will become more widespread Wednesday evening with temperatures getting as low as 61. There is a chance some of these thunderstorms could become severe and produce gusty winds, hail or a brief tornado. We will continue to watch this low pressure system for the potential of severe weather.

Showers and thunderstorms are still likely on Thursday, while temperatures will only reach the mid 60s in the afternoon. The chance of rain and storms decreases slightly for the evening on Thursday but there’s still a 50% chance any one region could see these.

Another slight chance of showers on Friday with temperatures topping out in the low 60s.
