Severe Risk Ending… 1:45PM Wednesday Update #alwx @wvua23

At 1:45pm, other than extreme southern Marengo County, the rest of our coverage area is no longer in a severe weather risk. The widespread heavy rain is shifting south of I-20, but still I expect some drizzle for the next few hours for areas along and north of I-20. The severe storm that is skimming the extreme southern part of Marengo County will be south of the county by 2:15pm.

Colder air will take over this afternoon, so a heads up on this airmass change!

Storms Ahead… Chilly on Thursday and Friday… Monday PM Forecast Update #alwx @wvua23

Good Monday afternoon! Our local weather stared off cool this morning, with a nice warm-up this afternoon. Most areas reached the lower 70s today under a sunny sky. We’ll drop into the 40s tonight with a clear sky.

Clouds increase on Tuesday. Rain is not expected before noon, but a few scattered showers and storms will become possible during the afternoon and evening hours.

Strong to isolated severe storms will become possible on Wednesday as a cold front moves in. This is not a classic severe weather setup, but storms will still be capable of producing damaging winds. A brief tornado can’t be ruled out…

Cooler weather will take over Thursday and Friday. A freeze and frost will be likely Thursday night, so if you have planted your garden or have frost sensitive plants, take precautions Thursday night.

Easter weekend will feature lots of sunshine and very nice conditions!
