Dreary Conditions Continue… Rain Wednesday and Thursday… Sun Returns Friday… Monday PM Forecast Update… #ALwx @wvua23

Good Monday afternoon! Dreary conditions were widespread today. Clouds dominated the skies and some spotty areas of fog lingered into the afternoon. Temperatures reached the lower and middle 50s by the afternoon. Unfortunately, these conditions are going to continue for the next couple of days. Waking up tomorrow, temperatures will still be in the low 50s and upper 40s. Temperatures won’t climb much tomorrow as the cloud cover will limit the warmth. High temperatures on Tuesday will peak in the mid 50s with those cloudy skies. A lingering shower cannot be ruled out during the day on Tuesday, so make sure to keep that umbrella on hand just in case! We cool off Tuesday night into Wednesday dropping into the low 40s. Wednesday rain becomes more widespread and temperatures struggle to reach the low 50s by afternoon.

Our main chance of rain comes through on Thursday with morning showers giving way to some thunderstorms by the afternoon. Severe weather is not expected with this batch of storms on Thursday. These showers will become widespread by the late morning hours. During the afternoon, these showers are expected to stick around with a few rumbles of thunder. High temperatures will stay in the mid to upper 50s on Thursday before cooling off Thursday night and into Friday, where we will drop into the low 40s and upper 30s. A few showers from the system may linger into the overnight hours but will begin to clear out by early Friday morning.

Friday, the sun returns and will stick around throughout the weekend with high temperatures warming up into the upper 50s and low 60s by Saturday and Sunday.

Rain and Very Windy Conditions Tuesday Night… Monday PM Forecast Update #alwx @wvua23

Good Monday afternoon! Today has been a nice winter day across the region, with ample sunshine and seasonal temperatures. Once the sun sets, temperatures will fall quickly! Look for a low in the 29 to 31 degree range, with many areas dealing with a widespread frost.

Clouds will increase on Tuesday, with rather breezy conditions by the late afternoon.

Tuesday night, winds will increase quickly across the area, with wind gusts of 35 to 45mph likely between 10pm and 5am. Heavy rain and storms will pass through the area, but instability will remain locked up near the Gulf Coast. The primary tornado concern will be for areas generally south of Jackson, Alabama. Keep in mind, it will be very stormy and windy across all of our area, but cool surface temperatures will prevent a tornado risk in our part of Alabama.

Skies will remain mostly cloudy on Wednesday, gradually becoming partly cloudy on Thursday.

Drying Out Monday… Overnight Storms Tuesday Night… Dry End Of Week… Sunday PM Forecast Update… #ALwx @wvua23

Good Sunday afternoon! Gloomy conditions were stagnant all over Western Alabama today. A cool and cloudy day is not going to give way to a clearer overnight. Low temperatures tonight and into the start of your work week will drop into the mid to upper 30s, making for a chilly start. Clouds begin to clear out by midday where we will have mostly sunny skies by the afternoon. High temperatures on Monday will struggle to get out of the low 50s with a north wind blowing throughout the day at around 5mph. Tuesday morning, temperatures should start off below freezing in the low 30s and upper 20s across most of the area. Tuesday, we begin to see our next system move in.

Tuesday night, storms begin to work there way into Tuscaloosa and Birmingham with a slight chance of severe weather during the overnight hours. The Storm Prediction Center has put some of Western Alabama under a marginal to slight risk. Along with the risk of the severe storms for the lower half of our coverage area, these storms will bring some gusty winds ahead and behind them. These storms should blow through by the late morning hours on Wednesday. A few showers may linger around Wednesday afternoon where we will see overcast skies.

Thursday, we end up cooler with temperatures continuing to struggle to get out of the upper 40s and low 50s during the afternoon. Drier conditions take over Thursday and into Friday where sunnier conditions begin to take over. Saturday looks dry with highs in the upper 50s. Sunday, rain reenters the forecast with some isolated showers around.
