Rain Ahead… Flurries on Friday… Tuesday Forecast Update – 4pm #alwx @wvua23

Good Tuesday afternoon! Temperatures have remained cold this afternoon, with some areas north of I-20 at or below freezing all day! A batch of clouds developed this morning and covered some areas near and north of I-20, allowing temperatures to remain colder than forecasted. Expect temperatures to drop a few degrees this evening, before rising some late tonight and early Wednesday. We’re watching an upper air disturbance move our way, and that feature will produce some rain over our area Wednesday. Take the umbrella to work or school tomorrow, as there’s a good chance some light showers will pass over your area at some point Wednesday. Highs will reach the low 50s in many areas on Wednesday, as a south wind allows temperatures to warm some.

The front will stall out over south Alabama Wednesday night, then retreat back northward as a warm front on Thursday. Expect a good chance of rain at times Wednesday night and on Thursday. There could even be a few thunderstorms on Thursday, but severe weather is not expected. Highs will reach the low 60s in many areas on Thursday.

Very cold air will quickly move in Friday morning. I’ve got a high in the mid 40s on Friday, but keep in mind, that will occur around sunrise, with temperatures falling into the 30s for the rest of the day. There’s a good chance we’ll get a few light showers, mixing or changing to snow flurries or snow showers during the day on Friday and lasting through Friday night. I don’t expect any issues or accumulations at this time, but we’ll keep an eye on it. Conditions remain cold through Saturday!
