Rain Chances Ahead… Tuesday Forecast Update – 4pm #alwx @wvua23

Good Tuesday afternoon! It was a very cold start to the day, with most areas well down in the 20s. Cullman actually reached 19 degrees, Tuscaloosa at 23 and Anniston at 27 this morning. Temperatures this afternoon have recovered into the upper 40s to near 50 in many areas. Winds will remain light and out of the east tonight, under a clear sky. Expect temperatures to dip into the lower 30s by 10pm and upper 20s before sunrise. Widespread frost is expected tonight as winds drop below 5mph.

Clouds slowly increase by Wednesday afternoon, as a weak upper level disturbance and weak warm front moves into the area. I don’t expect any rain on Wednesday or Thursday morning, but showers will become likely by late afternoon and evening on Thursday. Rain amounts will remain less than 1/2 an inch, so flooding isn’t a concern. Temperatures will reach the upper 50s on Thursday. Warmer temperatures will take over on Friday and Saturday, with highs well into the 60s.

Our next system to impact the area will arrive Saturday evening and Saturday night. Expect a good chance of rain ahead of a cold front. Rain amounts appear to remain fairly light at this time. Much colder air will move back into the area on Sunday and Monday.
