Severe Thunderstorm Watch Til 8PM Friday… Several Severe Thunderstorm Warnings… – 11:30am Update

Warnings_259

Good Friday morning! As of 11:30am, there is now a severe thunderstorm watch for areas south of I-20 until 8pm this eve. A batch of severe storms have developed over west and central Alabama at this hour, with the main risk being wind damage. Severe storms are located on the south side of I-20 over Sumter, Greene, Hale County and over Bibb, Jefferson and northern Chilton County. These storms were moving southeast at 30mph. Expect the risk of wind damage, heavy rain and very intense lightning with the storms. If you’re outdoors as the storms pass your area, go inside!

We’re watching another batch of severe storms over north Mississippi. These are moving southeast, so they could impact parts of west and central Alabama later this afternoon. It will not rain all day, but a downpour is possible at any point this afternoon and evening. Use caution if you get near one of these severe storms. At 11:30am, northwest Alabama is quiet, but again, we’re watching another batch of storms to the northwest of you. Areas south of I-20 will be impacted by the lead batch of storms that is ongoing right now. I do not expect tornadoes today…
