Hot Days Continue… Scattered Storms Ahead… Thursday Forecast Update – 4:30pm

Sevenday_640

Good Thursday afternoon! Our weather has turned out hot again today, as skies remain mostly sunny. A couple tiny storms have developed across parts of Alabama, but these storms are few in number. Most of Alabama will stay dry through Saturday. If you get a storm at your house today or over the weekend, it won’t last long at all.

Outdoor plans this evening will feature hot weather through sunset. Temperatures will fall into the middle 80s after 7pm and middle 70s after 10pm. As dewpoints rise this evening, conditions will feel rather muggy after sunset. Friday and Saturday are looking hot and mostly dry. I can’t rule out a passing afternoon storm or two on Friday and Saturday, but the risk is low at this time. Skies will remain mostly sunny through Saturday. Expect lows near 70 at night…

The first day of summer is on Friday! Summer begins at 12:04am…

As moisture continues to increase by Sunday and Monday, so will the rain chance. Afternoon storms will become a little more likely on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday. The risk of rain is at 30 to 40%, which means most areas will not get rain. If you get a storm late in the weekend or early next week, it won’t last more than an hour. Most outdoor events will be fine, but keep in mind lightning safety if a storm moves over your area.

If you have a beach trip planned to the Alabama Gulf Coast over the weekend, expect hot weather and mostly dry conditions. Highs will reach the upper 80s on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, with lows in the middle 70s. A passing shower or storm is possible along the coast this weekend, but the risk is only at 30%.

The tropics are calming down a bit now that Tropical Storm Barry has made landfall in central Mexico. The system is weakening fast and will cause no issues along the US coastline.
