Tuesday Afternoon Forecast Update…Watching the Gulf… – 4:15pm

Good Tuesday afternoon! Temperatures are in the hot range this afternoon, with most spots in the lower 90s. Skies are also mostly sunny this afternoon, which is only helping warm temperatures. As moisture levels continue to increase, the temperature decrease this evening will be slow. Look for temperatures to reach the middle 80s after 7pm and upper 70s by 10pm. Lows tonight will gradually fall into the upper 60s or lower 70s. Skies will become partly cloudy overnight tonight. Areas south of HWY 80 may see a shower or storm between now and 9pm, but areas north of HWY 80 will stay dry until tomorrow.

A southeast wind will take over on Wednesday, and humidity will really start to increase across the area. A few scattered afternoon storms will develop, but not everyone will get rain. The risk of rain is at about 40% on Wendesday. Tropical moisture will start to spread in from the low in the Gulf of Mexico. Look for the moisture to interact with a cold front on Thursday and Friday. This will give our area a good chance of showers and storms. I don’t expect rain all day on Thursday or Friday, but have the rain gear around through Friday. Highs will cool off just a tad thanks to extra clouds and some rain. I do not expect severe weather.

The Gulf Low has a small chance of becoming a tropical storm sometime tomorrow or on Thursday. Either way, it will bring lots of rain to Florida on Thursday and Friday and some shower activity to our area. As the low pressure gets caught up with a upper air trough and cold front on Saturday, dry air will quickly spread into the area from the northwest. Look for a good supply of sun on Saturday and Sunday, with highs in the upper 80s. Lows will fall into the middle 60s at night. Temperatures will get hot by early next week, as an upper air ridge builds in from the west.
