Friday Night Forecast Update – 10:20pm

Sevenday_640

Good Friday evening! After two rounds of strong to severe storms across Alabama, our weather has gone quiet as of 10:25pm. Storms have ended across all of west and central Alabama, but we are still expecting a lone storm or two on radar tonight. Most areas will stay rain free. Expect lows in the lower 70s.

The weekend forecast is looking better, as rain chances remain low. We can expect a mostly sunny sky on Saturday, with a 30% chance of a stray storm or two. Most areas will stay dry, but don’t be shocked if a quick shower or storm moves over your area. Rain chances will drop to 20% on Sunday, as skies remain partly cloudy to mostly sunny. An upper air trough will settle into the area over the weekend and early next week, so afternoon temperatures will remain a little below average. Expect highs in the upper 80s for much of next week, with lows in the 60s over the weekend and early next week.

An upper air disturbance will move into the area from the north and will bring the risk of scattered showers and storms on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. I don’t expect a soaking or a washout, but a downpour or two is possible. Rain chances increase to 40% on Wednesday and Thursday. If you have an outdoor even planned for Thursday, Independence Day, have a backup plan incase a storm moves over your event…
