A tornado watch is in effect until 11 PM CDT for north Mississippi into southwestern Tennessee. Here in ths region, it appears a more favorable combination of shear and instability will promote the threat for more organized storms including the potential for an isolated tornado.

The airmass over eastern Mississippi into northwestern sections of Alabama is becoming unstable this afternoon as well. Thunderstorms have been developing in this unstable zone over the past several hours, but over the last hour, they have begun to show signs of intensification. A severe thunderstorm warning remains in effect for Neshoba and Winston Counties, MS until 5 PM this afternoon. A severe thunderstorm warning also remains in effect for Colbert and Franklin Counties in AL until 445 PM this afternoon.

Other storms are increasing over far western Alabama as well. We will be watching these storms closely as they move northeastward. Some strong storms are possible, but for now the overall severe weather threat looks low with these storms.

We will continue to monitor the weather situation throughout the evening
