Great Weekend…Storms Next Week… Friday Forecast Update – 4:15pm

Good Friday afternoon! Temperatures have dropped fast over the past 24 hours due to a strong cold front. Fortunately, we did not have any severe weather issues with the front lastnight. Our weather has become dry this afternoon, with some sun peaking out in western Alabama. Skies will gradually become clear tonight with a low in the lower 40s. Some upper 30s are possible across north Alabama.

Skies will remain sunny on Saturday which is great news for A-day happening in Tuscaloosa. If you’re going to the big event at Bryant-Denny Stadium, expect a sunny sky and pleasant weather. It will be pretty chilly in the morning, but we’ll notice a nice warm-up by mid afternoon. Highs will reach the upper 60s on Saturday. Temperatures drop quick Saturday night, with a low in the lower 40s. Don’t forget to come meet your home team by the north side of Bryant-Denny tomorrow. I’ll be there, along with our on air staff between 10am and 2pm.

We can expect a sunny sky on Sunday as well, due to a surface high overhead. Highs will warm into the lower 70s on Sunday and middle 70s on Monday. We can expect warmer weather on Tuesday, with highs in the upper 70s. Skies will become partly cloudy on Monday and Tuesday as low level moisture returns to the state. A storm system will bring a good chance of showers and storms on Wednesday, but I don’t see any severe weather issues at this time.

48 hour Rain totals: Friday Update 4pm

Good Friday afternoon!

After a round of rain and thunderstorms last night, much of west and central Alabama picked up some high rain totals! Huntsville received the most with 1.41 inches. Majority of the heavy rain totals are for northern Alabama and southern Mississippi as well as the New Orleans area. Tuscaloosa recieved a little over an inch of rain. Luckily the rain has moved out of the area and the weekend is shaping up to be clear and mild!

Have a great weekend
