Saturday Evening Forecast Update – 8:15 PM

What a wonderful Saturday we had all across west Alabama: lots of sunshine and temperatures right at 70 degrees with a refreshing breeze. With strong high pressure in place and a calm wind, expect very efficient radiational cooling tonight with clear skies. Temperatures should dip down to right around 40 degrees. Some of the cooler locations of northwest Alabama could visit the upper 30s.

We’ll see mostly sunny skies for your Sunday as well, with temperatures a few degrees warmer than today, into the low and mid 70s. We’ll see a few more clouds during the day Monday with highs in the low 70s. A southerly flow will become more established during the day Tuesday, and we’ll see a subsequent increase in temperatures to right around 80 degrees along with more cloud cover.

A frontal system will enter the state Tuesday night and during the day Wednesday, bringing a line of showers and embedded storms with it. The good news is the overall severe weather threat looks rather low, but we will continue to watch this system over the next several days. High pressure builds in temporarily behind this system, and we won’t see any significant difference in temperatures after the frontal passage. Highs Tursday and Friday will be in the middle 70s.

Both the Euro and GFS models are showing some precipitation moving into the area Friday evening into Saturday most likely due to an inverted surface trough and subsequent moisture increase. Confidence in the timing of this event remains low, but be aware of a chance of rain to start your weekend.

Enjoy the fabulous weather for your Sunday!!
