Dry and Nice Days Ahead… Hurricane Gonzalo Update… Friday Forecast Update – 3:15pm #alwx

Warnings_908

Good Friday afternoon! With a persistent trough across the eastern half of the US over the next 5 to 7 days, our local weather will remain nearly perfect, with lots of sun, dry days, cool nights… Expect a clear sky tonight, with lows dropping into the lower 50s. A few upper 40s are possible north of I-20 by sunrise Saturday morning.

Highs will top out in the upper 70s on Saturday, then lower 70s on Sunday, as a shot of slightly cooler air moves into Alabama. The air will remain very dry, so I don’t expect any risk of rain or cloud cover. The pattern remains very consistent through next work-week, with highs in the 70s and lows in the middle to upper 40s. A shot of slightly cooler air will move back into the area on Wednesday and Thursday, with highs returning into the lower 70s.

Football Friday is looking nice across west and central Alabama tonight, with temperatures cooling into the lower 70s by 7pm and lower 60s by 10pm. Expect clear skies for all of the local high school football games, with no risk of rain.

Alabama takes on Texas A&M on Saturday at Bryant-Denny Stadium. Expect full sunshine during the game, with temperatures in the upper 70s at kickoff and middle 70s at the end of the game. Winds will be light to calm on Saturday, so conditions should feel great for football weather.

It’s Talladega Race Weekend! If you’re going to the races over the weekend, expect nice Fall weather, with a good supply of sun. Temperatures will top out in the 70s during the day, with lows in the between 48 and 51 at night.

Hurricane Gonzalo is a major, category 3 hurricane, with winds of 125mph. The category 3 storm is impacting Bermuda directly this evening, with major damage occurring in the island. This is one of the most powerful hurricanes to hit that island.
