Hot Days… Storms By Mid-Week… Monday Forecast Update – 4pm

Sevenday_640

Good Monday afternoon! Our weather has turned out rather nice, compared to the typically hot and humid July weather. Temperatures remain below normal, and dewpoints are low. If you look out the window, you’ll notice little to no cloud cover over the area; in-fact, it looks like an early fall day. With dry air in place, temperatures will rapidly drop after sunset. Expect temperatures to reach the middle 80s at 7pm and lower 70s at 10pm. Lows will gradually drop into the upper 60s before sunrise Tuesday morning.

Moisture levels will increase a tad on Tuesday, so the rather cool morning will turn into a hot and humid afternoon. Highs will reach the lower 90s on Tuesday, with only a 10% risk of a passing shower or storm. Most of Alabama will stay dry on Tuesday. We’ll be stuck between a ridge and trough on Wednesday, which will cause Alabama to remain under a northwest flow aloft both Wednesday and Thursday. As moisture levels increase and disturbances move into the area from the northwest, we’ll notice a good coverage of showers and storms on Wednesday and Thursday. It will not rain all day, but have the umbrella handy. Highs will reach the upper 80s to lower 90s. Expect lows in the lower 70s at night.

Some drier air will slip in on Friday and Saturday, which will dry out most of Alabama. Rain chance is at 10%, but it sure looks like most areas will not have rain. Highs will top out in the lower 90s on Friday and Saturday, under a mostly sunny sky. Expect lows in the upper 60s to lower 70s over the weekend.

Changes are expected on Sunday and Monday, as an approaching cold front moves into Alabama. Rain chances will increase into the good chance or likely range both Sunday and Monday.

If you have a beach trip planned this weekend, expect a mixture of clouds and sunshine, with a risk of scattered storms. Rain chances stand at 40% on Friday through Sunday along the Gulf Coast. Water temperatures remain in the lower 80s…
