Dry Today and Friday… Few Scattered Storms on Saturday… Thursday Forecast Update – 4:45pm

Sevenday_640

Good Thursday afternoon! Our weather has turned out very nice today, with low humidity and sunny skies. Temperatures remain below normal, with highs in the middle to upper 80s. Dry air will allow temperatures to cool quickly tonight, with temperatures in the middle 80s at 7pm, middle 70s at 10pm and upper 60s around midnight. Overnight lows will reach the middle to upper 60s late tonight and early Friday morning. Dry air will also allow temperatures to quickly warm into the 90s Friday afternoon. Skies will remain mostly sunny on Friday, with a high near 92.

An upper air trough will swing through the eastern US on Saturday. The trough will send a weak cold front through Alabama during the day on Saturday. A few scattered storms are possible on Saturday, but I don’t expect a washout. Have the umbrella handy on Saturday. Skies will remain partly cloudy to mostly cloudy for your Saturday plans… Models now agree the front will pass through Alabama and dry air will take over on Sunday. We can expect temperatures to fall into the upper 60s Sunday morning and Monday morning, with highs in the upper 80s to lower 90s. Humidity will remain rather low both Sunday and Monday, so it will feel fairly nice.

Moisture will quickly increase on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Look for skies to become partly cloudy, with the risk of scattered storms at any point. It will not rain all day, and the risk of rain stands at 30%.

Dorian

Tropical Storm Dorian maintains winds at 60mph, as of the 5pm advisory. Dorian is moving west northwest at 18mph, and this general motion is expected over the next few days. There is a chance it could become a weak hurrican before impacting the Bahamas on Tuesday of next week. It is still too early to know if this will be a threat to the US mainland, but we’ll keep a close eye on it.
