Flash Flood Warning for Fayette County Until 10:30pm Thursday

As of 4:30pm, we’re getting reports of flash flooding across parts of west and north Alabama. There is now a flash flood warning for Winston and Fayette County this evening, as some really heavy rain has fell over that area. Rain totals are approaching 3 to 4 inches in some areas… Here’s the warning for Fayette Co:

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN BIRMINGHAM HAS ISSUED A

* FLASH FLOOD WARNING FOR…FAYETTE COUNTY IN WEST CENTRAL ALABAMA…

* UNTIL 1030 PM CDT

* AT 433 PM CDT…NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE INDICATED AN AREA OF VERY HEAVY RAINFALL ACROSS FAYETTE COUNTY. RAINFALL AMOUNTS OF 2 INCHES OR GREATER HAVE OCCURRED OVER THE PAST 3 HOURS WITH AN ADDITIONAL 1 TO 3 INCHES POSSIBLE.

* RUNOFF FROM THIS EXCESSIVE RAINFALL WILL CAUSE FLASH FLOODING TO OCCUR. SOME LOCATIONS THAT WILL EXPERIENCE FLOODING INCLUDE… FAYETTE…ASHCRAFT CORNER…BANKSTON…BELK…BERRY…BLUFF AND
BOLEY SPRINGS.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

DO NOT DRIVE YOUR VEHICLE INTO AREAS WHERE THE WATER COVERS THE ROADWAY. THE WATER DEPTH MAY BE TOO GREAT TO ALLOW YOUR CAR TO CROSS SAFELY.
