Tuesday Afternoon Forecast Discussion…Drier Days Ahead… – 5pm

Sevenday_640

Good Tuesday afternoon! We’ve had a nice soaking rain across much of central Alabama during the late morning and early afternoon hours. As of 5pm, the back edge of the rain is now mainly east of I-20. As the first batch of rain ends this evening, expect a few more scattered showers overnight. While I don’t expect widespread, heavy rain overnight, a few downpours are possible. Temperatures will fall into the upper 60s late tonight and early Wednesday morning. As the upper air trough axis moves east of Alabama on Wednesday, the risk of a passing shower or two will quickly end; in-fact, it sure looks like most of Alabama will be rain free tomorrow. A little sunshine is possible after lunch on Wednesday, as some drier air moves in. The best chance of afternoon sun will happen west of I-65. Highs will top out in the lower 80s on Wednesday.

Thursday through Saturday will remain dry and sunny. An area of high pressure will keep the weather looking great for the rest of the week and into the weekend plans. Look for highs in the middle to upper 80s, with lows in the lower to middle 60s. A south breeze will start to develop on Sunday, which will transport moisture into the area. A lone shower or two is possible Sunday afternoon, but I really think most of us will have a dry weekend. As a weak cold front moves into Alabama on Monday, look for a few scattered showers or storms. Forecast models suggest Monday will not be a big rain event…

The tropics are quiet at this time, and no development is expected over the next couple of days…
