Showers at Times Tomorrow/Wednesday… Sunny Weekend Ahead! Monday Forecast Update – 5pm

092313

Good Monday afternoon! It has been a great first full day of fall, with sunny skies and dry air. Temperatures started off in the 50s across much of Alabama this morning, with temperatures heating into the middle 80s this afternoon. Really dry air over our area has really allowed a quick warmup after sunrise. Temperatures will cool fast after sunset, but I don’t expect it to get as chilly. Most areas will reach the middle 60s tonight. Big changes are likely over the next couple of days, as an upper air trough axis moves in from the west.

If you have outdoor plans this evening, there is no rain in the forecast. Skies will gradually become partly cloudy this evening. Look for temperatures to reach the upper 70s after 7pm and lower 70s at 10pm. A few upper 60s will start to show up as we approach the midnight hour. Again, lows will fall into the middle 60s tonight.

Skies will become mostly cloudy by daybreak Tuesday morning, as moisture levels increase a bit. As the upper air trough axis moves into the area from the west, we can expect a good chance of showers and a few thunderstorms. I don’t expect organized severe weather, but we’ll be on the lookout for a few strong wind gusts with any healthy storms that develop. Most areas will only get patchy rain with embedded thunder. Rain will continue at times through midday on Wednesday, but we will quickly dry out after lunch on Wednesday.

The weather will turn out great on Thursday through Sunday, as high pressure takes over the area. Highs will warm into the upper 80s, with lows in the 60s. We can expect mostly sunny skies Thursday through Sunday.

The tropics are very quiet, which is rare for this time of the year… We’ll keep an eye on things over the next few weeks and months…
