Hot and Humid Days Ahead…Isolated Storms… Monday Afternoon Forecast Update – 3:40pm

Sevenday_640

Good Monday afternoon! The heat is back on this Memorial Day, with most areas in the upper 80s to around 90. The lack of humidity over the weekend is starting to change as a south wind develops. Warm and moist air will gradually increase as a south wind continues across the area. One sign of increasing moisture is the developing cumulus clouds this afternoon. Each day this week, we’ll notice the afternoon cumulus, with the risk of an isolated shower or storm.

If you have plans outdoors this evening, get ready for mild and muggy conditions. Temperatures will gradually fall into the lower 80s at 7pm and lower 70s at 10pm. Skies will become clear as the evening and overnight moves along. Lows will reach the low 60s before sunrise Tuesday morning. Tuesday will feature a mostly sunny to partly cloudy sky, with hot and hazy conditions. Humidity will really start to increase during the day on Tuesday, as dewpoints reach the upper 60s. Heat index values will warm into the middle 90s, while the actual air temperature hits the upper 80s or lower 90s. A passing afternoon or two is possible on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, but the risk of rain is only at 10%.

Highs will warm into the lower 90s each afternoon for mid-week and into the weekend. Lows will reach the upper 60s starting Thursday morning. Each day will stand the low risk of isolated afternoon storms, but many of you will not see rain.

The weekend will bring slightly higher rain chances, but I still expect most spots to stay dry. The risk of rain over the weekend only stands at 20 to 30% at this time, and I see no evidence of higher rain chances than that. Skies will become partly cloudy, with the best chance of scattered weekend storms happening between noon and 6pm.
