Fabulous Weather Continues…A Bit Warmer By Mid-Week – Sunday Evening Forecast Update 7:50 PM

What a wonderful Mother’s Day Sunday we had across west Alabama…I don’t think we could’ve asked for much better weather. We will be quite chilly tonight though, with overnight lows in the low 40s thanks to high pressure nearby. And if you liked today’s weather, you’ll like tomorrow’s as well. We have more abundant sunshine in the forecast with highs in the middle 70s for your Monday as high pressure remains in firm control of our weather pattern.

By Tuesday, the surface high begins to shift south and east of our area, giving us a more southwesterly flow at the surface. This combined with mid-level heights rising will lead to warmer temperatures across the area during the afternoon. We’ll still have lots of sun, with highs in the middle 80s! The warmth will continue into Wednesday as well, but we will have bit more cloud cover to talk about as a weakness in the upper-level heights begins to approach the area from the west. Highs will still be in the middle 80s.

This weak trough of low pressure will likely set the stage for at least a few isolated showers and storms Thursday and Friday afternoon and evening. Like I talked about yesterday, I’m not expecting anything organized because the main jet stream track remains well north of us near the Canadian border. Slight mid-level ridging is forecast to build in behind the departing trough and will give us slightly warmer temperatures for the rest of the weekend. I would not be surprised to see some locations reaching the upper 80s by Sunday. It does look like we have another storm system affecting our area by the first part of next week that could bring a round of rain and storms with it…so stay tuned.

For now, enjoy this wonderful weather!
