Tornado Damage Near Demopolis on Christmas Day! Wednesday Update – 4:45pm

untitled

Good Wednesday afternoon! This is why we don’t want you in a Mobile Home during a tornado. The rubble in the middle of the picture is what’s left of a Mobile Home after an EF-1 tornado with 100mph winds struck. If anyone was in there during the tornado, it’s unlikely they would have survived. An EF-1 tornado is fairly weak. This is a classic example of how it only takes a small tornado to destroy a Mobile Home and take lives.

This picture was taken in Gallion, about 2 to 3 miles southeast of Demopolis. The National Weather Service survey team has been investigating the damage in west Alabama and in this area. They determined this to be an EF-1 tornado, with winds of 100 mph. The path length was 6 miles and width was 500 yards or just over 1/4th a mile wide.

There was another EF-1 tornado path discovered near Dixons Mill, in south Marengo County. Out of both tornadoes, there were no injuries.
