Scattered Showers and Storms Ahead… Latest on Tropics… Wednesday PM Update #alwx @wvua23

2Good Wednesday  afternoon! Our local weather has been hot and muggy again today, with a few scattered showers and storms. Showers will fade away this evening and we’ll continue with very muggy conditions. Temperatures will drop into the lower 70s tonight.

Scattered showers and storms will fire up once again during the afternoon and evening hours on Thursday and Friday. I do not expect an all day rain, but keep in mind, storms that develop will be intense with frequent lightning and heavy rain briefly before ending.

Rain chances will drop to 30% over the weekend, with a few spotty showers and storms during the afternoon and evening hours. Highs will reach the upper 80s.

Tropical Storm Cristobal continues to remain nearly stationary on the coast of mexico in the extreme southwest Gulf of Mexico. Cristobal will turn northward on Friday and will cross the Gulf over the weekend. Landfall looks likely on the Louisiana Gulf Coast on Monday. With wind shear and dry air nearby, I don’t expect this to be a powerful hurricane at landfall. We’ll keep an eye on it.
