Scattered Storms Increase Wednesday… Tuesday PM Forecast Update #alwx @wvua23

UntitledGood Tuesday afternoon! Our local weather has turned out hot again this afternoon, with many communities reaching the lower 90s. Other than an isolated shower or storm being possible, most will remain dry through tonight. Expect temperatures to drop into the lower 70s tonight, with a muggy feel to the air.

I’ve bumped the rain chance up a bit for Wednesday and Thursday as a weak upper level trough moves overhead. This will bring enough uplift to increase rain chances a bit, especially during the afternoon hours. I don’t expect rain everywhere, but the number of scattered downpours will increase a bit. Expect highs in the upper 80s during the afternoon hours.

We’ll continue with the chance of isolated to scattered afternoon storms over the weekend, but widespread rain is unlikely on Saturday and Sunday.

We’re watching Tropical Storm Cristobal in the southwest Gulf of Mexico. The latest model data suggest this storm will move northward over the weekend and could move into the Louisiana Gulf Coast Sunday or Monday. This may bring an increased rain chance to our area depending on the exact track. Given the shear and dry air over the northern Gulf this weekend, I don’t expect this to become a powerful hurricane.
