Hot Days Ahead… A few passing Storms… Monday PM Forecast Update #alwx @wvua23

Good Monday afternoon! Hot is the word, with temperatures reaching the lower 90s across much of our area today. Clouds are gradually increasing this evening, and we can expect a warm and muggy night tonight, with a low near 70.

Tuesday through Thursday, will feature hot days. With higher dewpoints and tropical moisture moving in off the Gulf, we can expect a better chance of a few scattered afternoon storms. Keep in mind, the rain chance is only 20 to 30%, so I don’t expect a significant widespread type of rain, but some of us will get a passing downpour. The best chance of a passing storm will be during the afternoon hours.

Friday through the weekend will feature hot days and warm nights. Expect highs in the lower 90s, with lows in the lower 70s. A few passing afternoon storms will be possible, but widespread rain is unlikely.

In the tropics, Tropical Depression 3 has formed in the southwest Gulf. This storm will remain nearly stationary over the next 2 to 4 days before making a north turn over the weekend. There is a lot of uncertainty on where this one will go, but we’ll watch it carefully and update you as the path becomes more clear.
