It’s Going to be Hot, Hot, Hot This Week…Sunday Forecast Update #alwx @wvua23

Sevenday_640 (2)Good Sunday evening! We were blessed with once again dry weather and warm temperatures across the coverage area as temperatures managed to make it to the mid and upper 80s. Drier air has still been filtering in from the north, so dewpoints have stayed rather low helping to keep conditions rather comfortable. Expect dry weather to dominate as we go into the late evening and overnight hours. Overnight lows will be dropping into the lower 60s and skies will be mostly clear.

As we start the next work week on Monday and throughout the next seven days, plan on highs to be soaring into the lower and mid 90s making for a rather hot week. Each day will feature a mix of sun and clouds and likely we’ll see an afternoon pop-up shower or storm. However, the majority of the coverage area will stay dry during the day as upper-level riding will continue. On Tuesday, humidity levels will be increasing, so expect many more muggy-feeling days by mid-week and through the weekend.

Currently, we are monitoring the Gulf of Mexico for a potential tropical system to develop in the next upcoming days that could increase our shower and storm chances by the end of the week. It is much too far out to give any specifics, but be sure and plan on isolated to widely scattered showers and storms Friday through Sunday depending on how this system will play out.
