Extreme Heat Now… A Little Cooler By Late Week/Weekend… Tuesday PM Forecast Update #alwx @wvua23

asdf33.png Good Tuesday afternoon! Hot is the word for today, with many areas reaching the 100 degree mark. Expect temperatures to drop into the 70s overnight, under a clear sky.

Wednesday will feature one more extremely hot day, with a high in the upper 90s to near 100. Look for a mostly sunny sky on Wednesday.

A weak surface front will move in from the northeast on Thursday, with only a small chance of a stray shower or storm. Temperatures will drop into the upper 80s to near 90 on Thursday, with a northeast breeze. We’ll drop into the mid 60s Thursday night, and lower to middle 60s Friday night and Saturday night. Expect highs in the upper 80s to near 90 Friday and Saturday. Skies will remain sunny…

In the tropics, Hurricane Humberto remains east of the southeast US coast, now moving east and away from the US. There is no risk to the US mainland with this particular storm. Bermuda will take a close call for a direct hit on Thursday.

Tropical Storm Imelda formed on the Texas Gulf Coast at midday today and the center has now moved onshore, approaching Houston. Tremendous flooding is expected across east Texas over the next few days, but we will not get any rain off this system.

Tropical Depression 10 formed in the central Atlantic. This feature is expected to become a hurricane by Friday, but it will likely turn out to sea before reaching the US. We’ll watch it close.
