Good Monday afternoon! Our local weather has been once again hot and humid today, with many areas warming into the lower 90s, especially in west Alabama. While it is hot, this is close to the standard summer heat for early August. A few scattered storms on radar this evening will gradually diminish this evening. Expect lows in the lower 70s tonight.

Our local forecast will include hot weather through the middle of the week. Highs will top out in the lower to middle 90s by Tuesday and Wednesday. Lows will remain in the middle 70s each night this week and into the weekend. The rain chance will remain low for Tuesday.

By Wednesday through the weekend, we can expect a few scattered showers and storms, with a bit of an increase in the number of scattered showers and storms by the weekend. Much like last weekend, this will not be an all weekend rain event. There may be rain for 1 hour in a single spot before the scattered storms move on. Just like any summer storm that develops in the afternoon heating process, expect a brief period of heavy rain and intense lightning. If you like the rain chance game, expect the risk of any one spot getting a passing downpour at 30% to 40% Wednesday through Friday and 50% this weekend.

The tropics are quiet in the Atlantic Basin.
