Good Wednesday afternoon! Our local weather started off in the lower to middle 70s this morning. A few scattered showers this morning impacted some areas, with more scattered storms during the afternoon. At 4pm, storms were more widespread over west Alabama, with only isolated storms east of I-65. Storms will diminish this evening and tonight, and conditions will feel very muggy.

Independence day is on Thursday! Expect a partly cloudy sky, with a sunrise temperature in the middle 70s. We’ll top out around 93 by early afternoon, with a chance of a few pop up afternoon storms. The chance of scattered storms remains at 30% on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

The risk of scattered storms may increase again by Sunday, as a weak surface front stalls just north of the area. Highs will remain in the lower to middle 90s, with a heat index over 100.

The tropics remain quiet…
