Hot Days Continue… Little to No Rain… Thursday PM Forecast Update #alwx @wvua23

Good Thursday afternoon! Our local weather remains pretty hot and dry this afternoon, with most areas reaching the lower 90s over west Alabama and upper 80s over east Alabama. We’ll stay mostly dry tonight, although I can’t rule out a stray shower overnight.

The ridge will continue to break down a bit on Friday and over the weekend, with temperatures averaging in the upper 80s to near 90 each afternoon. Look for mostly sunny skies, but rain is not expected. We’ll notice a northwest flow aloft develop Monday and Tuesday, and that may allow for some lower dewpoints to arrive. Highs will top out near 90 on Monday and Tuesday, with lows in the middle to upper 60s Monday morning and Tuesday morning.

Models are hinting at the ridge re-building now next week, which would increase temperatures and limit rain chances. At the moment, a 5% or less of a rain chance towards the middle and end of next week. It sure looks like we’re slipping into an early drought across Alabama. We need some rain soon!
