Summer Weather Continues… Wednesday PM Forecast Update #alwx @wvua23

Good Wednesday afternoon! Our local weather was hot again today, with a record high in jeopardy. At 4pm, Tuscaloosa was reporting 95 degrees. The old record was 96. We likely tied or broke it between hourly recordings, so we’ll be watching for the final number to come out shortly. Expect a mild evening, with temperatures dipping into the lower 70s after midnight.

The ridge will weaken a little for Thursday through the weekend, but the heat will remain with us. Expect temperatures to drop to near 90 on Thursday and Friday. There may be a couple of tiny afternoon storms on radar. The risk of rain is only 5% or less, so don’t count on it.

Models are hinting at the ridge re-building now next week, which would increase temperatures and limit rain chances. At the moment, I’ve got highs in the lower 90s for Sunday through Wednesday, with a 5% or less of a rain chance. It sure looks like we’re slipping into an early drought across Alabama. We need some rain soon!
