Triple Digits Possible This Weekend. Friday forecast update #alwx @wvua23

7 Day Forecast - 5PM SHOW.pngTGIF! Happy Memorial Day weekend everyone it is going to be a crazy hot one! We are still sitting under a ridge as well as high pressure giving us sunny, above average temperatures here in Alabama. Our average high for May is 84 degrees and we will sit above that by nearly 10 degrees most of the week.

Sunday highs will reach into the upper 90s to low 100s. If we hit 100 it will be the earliest Tuscaloosa has ever hit trip digits in a year. The current record is June and we could beat it by a week!

Memorial Day will hit the upper 90s to 100 across the state as well with lots sunshine. Record breaking heat lasts until Wednesday. We will start to cool into the mid 90s Wednesday and low 90s Thursday.

The chance for a few scattered showers returns on Thursday and becomes a little more collected on Friday. By no means will either day be a washout though!

The Great Plains is looking at day 4 of strong to severe storms. Flooding has become a catastrophic hazard especially along the Arkansas River where it is expected to reach 41ft by Sunday! Fortunately no flooding hazards here in Alabama but portions of east Alabama are now marked as abnormally low water levels on the drought monitor. Rain for the state would not be a bad thing!

Enjoy the weekend
