Few Storms Ahead… Very Warm Temps Continue… Thursday PM Forecast Update #alwx @wvua23

7 Day -10PM SHOW.pngGood Thursday afternoon! Our local weather resembles summer today, with hot and humid conditions. Temperatures are near 90 degrees in the Tuscaloosa area as of 4:30pm. We’ll fall into the upper 60s tonight after midnight.

The risk of rain on Friday is very low. I can’t rule out a passing afternoon shower or storm, much like today. Look for hot afternoon temperatures, with highs reaching well into the upper 80s.

As a weak upper air disturbance and fizzling front stalls out to the northwest of Alabama on Saturday, I expect a better chance of a few scattered showers and storms. This is not an all day rain, but there is a better chance of getting a quick hitting storm or two. The main rain chance will arrive during the afternoon and evening hours, and some storms could produce gusty winds and intense lightning. The risk is at 50% for our area.

Drier air will return on Sunday and Monday. We’ll see lots of sunshine coming up for early next week. Temperatures will warm into the upper 80s by Monday and Tuesday, with lows in the lower 60s.
