Good Tuesday afternoon! Our local weather turned out mild today, with a temperature reaching the lower 80s this afternoon. Expect a mostly clear sky tonight, with a low in the middle 50s.

Clouds increase on Wednesday, with a high near 80 degrees. A south wind will transport moisture northward into Alabama. We’ll remain dry through midday on Thursday.

A deep upper air trough will dig to our west, sending a deepening surface low to the northwest of Alabama. As uplift, shear and instability increase across the area Thursday afternoon, severe storms will become possible. The main window for severe weather will be 5pm Thursday through 3am Friday. All modes of severe weather will be possible with this event. It appears the tornado risk is a little lower with this setup, with damaging strait line winds being the primary concern. We’ll watch this setup very carefully…

Temperature will be much cooler on Friday, with a high struggling to reach 60 degrees. Clouds remain thick with a few showers becoming possible.
