Good Wednesday afternoon! Our local weather started off cool this morning, but the mid April sunshine helped to warm temperatures fast by the afternoon. At 4pm, most areas were in the upper 80s, with a few spots touching 90. Expect temperatures to drop a bit tonight, with a low in the lower 60s. With higher dewpoints coming in, it won’t be as cool as lastnight.

Thursday will be another mostly sunny and rather hot day. Expect a high near 86 by mid afternoon, with some cirrus clouds arriving during the afternoon.

Clouds increase by Thursday night, with a few showers and storms possible Thursday night through early afternoon on Friday, as a weak surface front approaches the area. The front will stall out over the gulf coast Friday night, then back northward as a warm front on Saturday.

Scattered showers and storms are expected on Saturday, but a fair chunk of the day will be dry.  Another round of rain and storms will arrive Saturday night into Sunday morning, and we’ll need to watch model data carefully on that setup, as there is a potential severe risk involved. All types of severe weather will be possible with the setup Saturday night and into Sunday morning. The better chance of seeing a severe storm looks to be over west Alabama, where there will be a higher amount of instability and wind shear overlap.

Dry weather returns again on Monday, with sunshine back.
