Very Warm Days Ahead! Strong to Severe Storms This Weekend… Tuesday PM Forecast Update #alwx @wvua23

7 Day -SHELTON STATE Forecast - Offset Lows - PM.png

Good Tuesday afternoon! Our local weather started off wet across much of the area, but drier air is taking over quickly this afternoon. At 4pm a few showers were still ongoing across central and east Alabama, but the showers will end fast by sunset. Expect temperatures to drop into the middle 50s tonight, under a mostly clear sky.

Wednesday and Thursday will feature very warm days, with highs reaching the middle to upper 80s both afternoons. Expect a mostly sunny sky on Wednesday and Thursday. Rain is not in the forecast both days, so we can expect dry weather.

Clouds increase by Thursday night, with a few showers and storms possible Thursday night through midday on Friday, as a weak surface front approaches the area. The front will stall out over the gulf coast Friday night, then back northward as a warm front on Saturday. Widespread showers and storms are expected on Saturday, but a fair chunk of the day will be dry.  The higher rain chance will come Saturday afternoon and evening. Another round of rain and storms will arrive Sunday morning, and we’ll need to watch model data carefully on that setup, as there is a potential severe risk involved. All types of severe weather will be possible with the setup Saturday night and into Sunday morning.
