2:30pm Monday Radar Update… Showers & Storms Moving Through… Tornado Watch Til 7pm #alwx @wvua23

At 2:30pm Monday, we have a line of showers and storms moving through west Alabama. So far so good, as storms remain under severe limits. Showers and storms will produce gusty winds as they move through, but there are no indications of rotation or widespread damaging winds at the moment. The broken line is coming through Haleyville, Fayette and Reform, stretching southwest into east Mississippi.

There’s a tornado watch until 7pm for a large chunk of west Alabama. By 7pm, the better dynamic support will be lifting off to the northeast and the risk will be ending for our area. Be alert for the next few hours for the low potential of a rotating storm or perhaps a damaging wind gust.

By 9pm tonight, there will only be a few light showers lingering around, so your new year’s eve plans will be ok in terms of weather conditions. I would take the umbrella to be safe, but widespread rain is not expected after 9pm.
