Big Rains Ahead….Wednesday Eve Forecast Update #alwx @wvua23

7 Day -SHELTON STATE Forecast - Offset Lows - PM.pngGood Wednesday evening! Our local weather is quiet as of 8pm across our area, but rain will begin to spread in from the southwest overnight. Expect gusty winds to develop overnight as well, with southeast winds approaching 35mph in gusts.

Light rain will spread into the area on this Wednesday night, with more heavy widespread rain moving into west and central Alabama during the day on Thursday, Thursday night and Friday. Rain amounts of 2-4 inches appear likely between Thursday and Friday alone, with additional rain amounts on Saturday, Sunday and Monday.

Rain amounts of 5 to 7 inches will be likely for much of central Alabama between tonight and Monday. Again, there will be lull periods in the rain, but the predominant pattern favors a lot of rain! If you live in a flood prone area both during flash flooding and river/stream flooding, be alert for the rest of the week and weekend. I expect some issues of river flooding as well…

Temperatures will remain in the 60s on Thursday and Friday, then trending cooler over the weekend.

We’ll maintain a good chance of rain in another wave on Monday, followed by a chance of rain on Tuesday and Wednesday, if the front doesn’t push east faster than expected. Temperatures will drop into the lower 50s for highs early next week.
