The first day of winter is today, it officially begins at 4:23 PM! That means we’ll see the shortest amount of daylight today, coming in around 9 hours and 47 minutes. Longer days are ahead of us!

We saw some pretty windy conditions here in central Alabama today, gloomy too. Most areas saw isolated showers throughout the day as well, but as we head towards the overnight hours the rain will start to taper off and we’ll be left with partly cloudy skies and lows in the lower 30s so it will be a cold night here!|Saturday we’ll dry out from all of the rain this week and see plenty of sunshine and temperatures in the mid to upper 50s. Saturday night expect partly cloudy skies and temperatures in the lower 40s.

Sunday we’ll introduce our next chance to see rain, about a 40%. Most areas will continue to remain dry, but if you don’t see rain, expect to see mostly cloudy skies. Temperatures will be in the upper 50s as well for Sunday. Sunday night showers will end early, and lows will be in the mid to upper 30s.

Christmas Eve is Monday, and it looks great! Mostly sunny conditions for the day and temperatures will be in the mid 50s. Monday night temperatures will fall into the lower 40s, and mostly cloudy conditions. Christmas on Tuesday looks great as well with temperatures in the lower 60s, yes you read that right…. SIXTIES! Mix of sun and clouds all throughout the day, and I couldn’t rule out a very slim chance to see an isolated shower or two for Christmas. Christmas night will be mostly cloudy and chilly, with lows in the upper 40s.

Our next best chance to see rain will come towards the end of the week next week, on Thursday.

Join us live on WVUA 23 weekdays at 5, 6, and 10 PM and weekends at 10 PM for the very latest on your news, weather and sports.
