Rain Ahead… Nice Next Week… Thursday Afternoon Forecast Update #alwx @wvua23

Good Thursday afternoon! Skies have become overcast this afternoon across the area, as a developing upper level low and surface low take shape to our west. Moisture is spreading in from the south, and rain is not far behind. As of 4pm, rain was already moving into Marengo and Sumter County, with a northeast movement. Expect rain to become widespread this evening and tonight, with some thunder. Temperatures will remain in the 50s overnight.

For Friday, we’ll have periods of showers and embedded thunder. Severe weather is not expected, but you can expect warmer temperatures. We’ll approach the middle 60s after lunch on Friday. We may see a few peaks of sun, but skies will remain mostly overcast. As the upper level low moves in Friday night into midday Saturday, we’ll maintain a chance of occasional showers. By Saturday afternoon, showers should begin to move out of the area. We’ll drop back into the 50s for highs on Saturday. Rain amounts will range from 0.25 to 0.50″…

Sunshine will gradually make a return on Sunday, as dry air takes over. There isn’t any extremely cold air in the forecast for early next week, but we’ll likely see temperatures in the seasonal range. Highs will approach 60 Sunday and Monday afternoon. This trend with sunshine and seasonal weather will continue through mid-week. We’ll top out near 60 during the afternoon, with lows in the 30s.
