Warm Days For Now… Storms on Thursday… Monday Afternoon Forecast Update #alwx @wvua23

Good Monday afternoon! Our local weather turned out nearly perfect for a fall day. Temperatures started off in the upper 40s to lower 50s this morning, with an afternoon high in the mid to upper 70s. Skies remain clear this evening, with a fast drop in temperatures. Expect a low in the lower 50s for many areas.

Tuesday will feature a rapid warm-up, as highs approach the lower 80s. Skies remain sunny on Tuesday.

Halloween day will feature an increase in clouds. Highs will approach the lower 80s during the afternoon. A breezy south wind will transport moisture northward allowing for the increase in clouds. Models continue to be in great agreement that the main rain chance will hold off until very late Wednesday night or Thursday morning. At this point, any Wednesday evening Halloween plans look good. Temperatures will be mild, with 70s after sunset through midnight.

Thursday’s weather will be messy. A line of strong to potentially severe storms will arrive early Thursday morning over west Alabama, then move east through the day. There’s great upper air support and wind shear, but instability will be lacking with this setup. We’ll need to watch for trends carefully, but I’m adding a low end risk of damaging wind and perhaps an isolated tornado or two to the forecast Thursday morning into the midday hour. Rain amounts will range 1-2″ with this event.

The upcoming weekend will feature dry and seasonal weather. Don’t forget about the time change in the pre-dawn hours of Sunday morning. You’ll set you clock back one hour before you go to bed Saturday night.
