Hot Week Ahead! Monday Afternoon Forecast Update 4:30pm #alwx @wvua23

Good Monday afternoon! Our local weather has turned out hot today, with many areas reaching the upper 80s over west Alabama, with middle 80s over east Alabama. Expect a mostly clear to partly cloudy sky tonight, with temperatures dropping into the lower 70s.

A very intense upper air ridge will park over the southeastern US and will remain with us all week. Sinking air associated with the ridge will keep us sunny and hot, with highs reaching the lower 90s each afternoon. Lows at night will remain mild due to high dewpoints. Expect overnight lows in the lower 70s each night this week and this upcoming weekend.

Models hint at the ridge breaking down in about 10 days. Given this look has appeared several times in our data, we’ll take the pattern change with a grain of salt until we have better consistency.
