Higher Rain Chances Ahead.. Thursday Afternoon Forecast Update #alwx @wvua23

7 Day -SHELTON STATE Forecast - Offset Lows - PM.png

Good Thursday afternoon! At 6pm, a few scattered storms were ongoing across west Alabama, but most areas are rain-free. The chance of a shower or storm will diminish after sunset. Expect a mild and muggy night.

A weak surface front and uplift will move into the southeast, allowing for rain chances to really increase on Friday through the weekend. While I don’t expect a rain all day, I do expect a good number of heavy downpours on radar, especially during the afternoon and evening hours. With uplift and plenty of moisture in the area, a few overnight storms will be possible as well Friday through the weekend.

Another front will approach the area on Monday and Tuesday, which will continue to enhance the rain chance in our area. Again, it will not rain all day, but it would be a good idea to keep the umbrella handy through Tuesday. Models hint at 2 to 4 inches of rain for our area over the next 5 days, but where heavy downpours track, some spots will see more than that and some spots will see less.
