Cold Tonight…Warmer Days Ahead… Monday Forecast Update – 4:30pm #alwx @wvua23

Good Monday afternoon! With a return of sunshine today, a breezy west wind continues to give a chill to the air. Winds will become light to calm overnight, and temperatures will drop into the middle to upper 30s. There could be some frosty areas generally along and northeast of a line from Hamilton to Jasper to Birmingham to Rockford. South and west of that line, frost is unlikely tonight.

Tuesday will feature a rapid warm-up. Look for a high in the middle 70s under a sunny sky. We’ll be much warmer Tuesday night compared to tonight, with a low in the middle 50s at sunrise Wednesday.

A weak front passes through the area on Wednesday, and I can’t rule out an isolated shower or two during the afternoon or evening. Most areas will not experience rain with this event.

Highs will drop back into the lower to middle 70s Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Look for middle 40s Thursday night.

A surface low will spread moisture northward on Sunday, brining with it a good chance of rain and embedded storms. Severe weather is not expect at this time, but rain amounts of 1-2″ may become likely.
