Very Mild Weekend… Few Showers Possible.. Friday Forecast Update – 4:25pm #alwx @wvua23

7 Day Forecast - Offset Lows - PM.png

Good Friday afternoon! Our local weather has turned out mild this afternoon, with many areas reaching the lower 70s. Clouds are increasing across the area, and we’ll maintain a mostly cloudy sky through tonight. Expect a low in the lower 50s tonight.

The weekend will feature mild temperatures, with highs in the middle to upper 70s on Saturday and Sunday. Skies will remain mostly cloudy over the weekend, and I can’t rule out a passing shower or two.

A weak cold front will stall across central Alabama on Monday, allowing for temperatures to drop back into the low 60s Monday afternoon. The front quickly retreats northward on Tuesday, and we’ll return into the lower 70s Tuesday afternoon.

A deep trough will dig across the central US on Wednesday and Thursday. A disturbance will rotate around the base of the trough and develop a surface low northwest of Alabama by Thursday afternoon into Thursday night. We’ll need to carefully watch the setup, as instability will be nearby and a south wind would easily transport unstable air into our area if a surface low does indeed track to our northwest. There is some fair consistency in models to atleast mention the chance we could deal with a round of stronger to perhapse severe storms late Thursday and into Thursday night. More details on this as we get a little closer.
