Rain Ahead… Chilly Next Week… Friday Forecast Update – 4:22pm #alwx @wvua23

7 Day Forecast - Offset Lows - PM.png

Good Friday afternoon! Our local weather started off cold this morning, with a widespread light freeze and frost. This afternoon was much warmer, as most of west and central Alabama made it into the middle or upper 60s. Lows tonight will fall into the middle 40s.

Clouds gradually increase tonight in advance of our next storm system. A few showers will spread into northwest Alabama during the morning hours, with showers becoming more widespread during the afternoon and evening for the rest of west and central Alabama. We’ll reach a high in the upper 60S Saturday afternoon. Look for a soaking rain to overspread the area Saturday night, with generally 1 to 2 inches of rain likely. Rain moves out very early Sunday morning, with most of the day cloudy and dry.

A sharp cold front arrives on Monday, with highs in the middle 50s. Look for a return to sunny skies by late morning on Monday. We’ll dip into the lower 30s Monday night, Tuesday night and Wednesday night, with many areas dealing with another risk of a frost and light freeze. It appears a light breeze may prevent widespread frost Monday night and maybe even Tuesday night, but a surface high will move right over us by Wednesday night. A widespread frost appears likely Wednesday night of next week.

We’ll quickly warm up by the end of the work week on Friday and into the following weekend, as ridging builds in from the west.
