Stray Showers for Monday. Cooler Weather On The Way. Sunday Forecast Update, 5:20pm. #wxal @wvua23

7 Day -SHELTON STATE Forecast - Offset Lows - PM.pngGood Sunday evening! It was yet another day of amazing weather for central Alabama. Hopefully everyone got to get out and enjoy it, because we have a change coming in the forecast. Tonight, clouds will start to increase and there will be the chance of a few light, stray showers, mainly after 3am. This chance of rain will last through Monday afternoon. If you’re not getting rain, you’ll be dealing with gloomy conditions. Late in the afternoon, rain will start to pick up as a frontal boundary pushes into Alabama. This will provide heavy rain through Monday night into very early Tuesday morning. Rain for west Alabama will be over at 8am. After the rain passes, clouds stick with us, at least into the afternoon. That night, skies will start to clear.

From this point of the work week, we turn dry and cooler, so don’t put away the jackets yet. Skies remain clear all the way through Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday morning. At night (technically starting Tuesday night, but especially Wednesday night), make sure that if you have any cold weather sensitive plants that they are covered. Friday afternoon, clouds will slowly start to increase ahead of the next dose of rain in the forecast.

Current timing has rain starting between 3 and 6am Saturday and will be a light rain/mist event all day Saturday, into Saturday night, and even into Sunday. That said, hopefully you did get to enjoy this weekend because next weekend will be the polar opposite with cool weather and rain.
