Few Weekend Showers… Very Warm Early Next Week! Thursday Forecast Update – 4:30pm #alwx @wvua23

7 Day Forecast - Offset Lows - PM.png

Good Thursday afternoon! Our local weather has turned out very mild and muggy today, with all of our area reaching well into the 70s; in-fact, areas near and south of Tuscaloosa reached the low 80s this afternoon! Expect temperatures to remain mild and muggy tonight, with a low in the lower to middle 60s.

A very weak cold front will push into central Alabama Friday just after lunch. Models indicate a very thin band of sprinkles or light showers will accompany the front, but rain amounts will be generally less than 0.10″ and some spots may not get a drop. We’ll reach the upper 60s before the front arrives, then fall into the 50s during the mid to late afternoon Friday. Lows will reach the upper 40s late Friday night.

The front will wobble back north some on Saturday, allowing for 70s south of I-20 and 60s to the north. A few showers will move in on Friday, but the better rain chance will be north of I-20. Rain amounts will be very light on Saturday as well, with most areas getting less than 0.20″ total. If showers move into your area on Saturday, they won’t last very long. Again, the higher chance of seeing showers will be north of I-20, but a few passing showers will be possible further south, especially during the afternoon and evening.

A few showers will remain possible on Sunday, but I do not expect widespread or heavy rain. The higher chance of getting a shower on Sunday will be northwest of Tuscaloosa.

Monday and Tuesday will feature spring like days, with highs in the upper 70s to low 80s! A passing shower is possible, but most of our area will not get a drop of rain. Look for a mix of sun and clouds on Monday and Tuesday.

There’s evidence of a better rain maker coming in by Wednesday or Thursday, but models are backing off a bit and it may end up being another situation where the ridge wins and the main rain axis stays to our northwest. We’ll fine-tune that as we get closer.
