Warmer Days Ahead… Showers Possible at Times… Tuesday Forecast Update – 5:30pm #alwx @wvua23

Good Tuesday evening! Our local weather started off cool and gloomy this morning, but most of central Alabama reached the lower to middle 60s this afternoon, with some spots touching 70. If you live north of I-20, temperatures remained a bit cooler due to extensive cloud cover. We’ll drop into the lower to middle 50s overnight, with a small chance of a shower after 10pm.

Wednesday, showers will become possible, with the best chance of rain occurring north of I-20. If you have plans outdoors for Valentine’s Day, take the umbrella to be safe. Highs will reach the upper 60s along I-20, with a few 70 degree temp reports possible south of I-20.

Thursday will be a warmer day with a high in the lower to middle 70s. Skies remain partly to mostly cloudy on Thursday. Rain chances appear low, but I can’t rule out a passing shower. Temperatures Wednesday night and Thursday night will be in the lower to middle 60s, which is very mild for overnight lows this time of the year.

Showers increase by Friday afternoon, as a weak cold front approaches from the northwest. Highs will reach the low 70s on Friday, then dropping into the middle 40s Friday night as cooler air temporarily takes over. Look for a few showers through Saturday as well, with a high in the upper 50s along and north of I-20, with low 60s to the south. We’ll begin a quick modifying trend early next week.
