Lots of Rain Ahead! Warmer Temps… Thursday Forecast Update – 4:30pm #alwx @wvua23

Good Thursday afternoon! Our local weather started off chilly this morning, with most areas near the freezing mark. With ample sunshine and a modifying airmass moving in, temperatures reached 60 across most of the area. Expect a clear sky tonight, with temperatures dropping into the upper 30s.

Clouds increase during the day on Friday, with showers becoming possible after lunch. Rain chances will increase Friday night across north Alabama. By Saturday, expect periods of rain area-wide. Rain could be heavy at times, but I do expect breaks in the rainfall. Expect a high in the upper 60s on Saturday, with increasing humidity. The latest data keeps rain chances very high through Sunday as well, with periods of rain expected. Highs could reach 70 on Sunday. Rain amounts this weekend will approach 2 to 3 inches!

Showers will linger into Monday and Tuesday as well, with a mainly cloudy sky. The cold front will stall somewhere across Alabama, and depending on where the front stalls will depending on where the front stalls will determine your local temperatures on Monday. I’ve got a high in the middle 60s, but northwest Alabama could be in the 50s all day, with 70s southeast of I-59. Unfortunately, Monday will be a tricky temperature forecast.

The front will quickly build northward, and our entire area will reach the lower 70s on Tuesday and Wednesday. We could even reach the middle 70s by Thursday. With a deep layer of tropical moisture in place, a few scattered showers will be possible each day next week.

Rain amounts will be high with the upcoming rains. Here’s the latest totals over the next 7 days… Widespread 2-4″ is expected, with some areas getting over 4″
